John H. Doyle

John is an entrepreneurial corporate and securities attorney who strives to comprehensively understand his clients’ objectives to offer straightforward legal solutions to complex problems while keeping business practicality in mind.  His broad experience includes serving as counsel to private and public company clients at all stages of growth and across business sectors, representing venture capital and private equity firms, advising individual entrepeneurs and key employees, and holding a senior legal position in state government. 

John’s practice focuses on general corporate representation; corporate governance and fiduciary duties; investor- and company-side debt and equity finance; mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures; intellectual property protection and technology licensing; regulatory compliance; executive benefits and compensation; government contracting; and every manner of day-to-day business matters his clients encounter. 

Prior to joining Marcus Clegg, John worked in the corporate and securities group of Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich and Rosati, PC, located in Washington DC; was employed as solo in-house General Counsel and Secretary to several early stage companies in the technology and pharmaceuticals sectors; and served as Deputy Counsel and Senior Policy Advisor to Maine’s Governor Paul R. LePage.
